Please note: We have served numerous customers with successful international rentals, and have an estimated success rate of 80% or higher for international border crossings. That said, it is important to understand that we do NOT guarantee successful border crossings. Customers are responsible to know and comply with the current border status, travel requirements, and regulations which are subject to change at any time. We simply provide the bike’s required documents. Even then, the documents used to create temporary ownership for a rented bike to allow it to across borders is not always understood by border agents and may be denied. For this reason some customers have tried at different times at the same border to have success, or simply crossing from another border point.

Notes as of 2024: These are just observations we’ve made, please do your own research and don’t rely on these notes alone. We make no guarantees as each country and each border crossing work independently and changes can be frequent and not consistent.

Laos: Entry into Laos has had a very high success rate since reopening in 2022, estimated about 90% or above have successfully crossed. However, you may be required to have a tour guide to cross into Laos. . Previous customers have had luck with finding tour agents on the Thailand side of the border who will register you as part of their tour group, walk you across the border, and then let you continue on your way.

Cambodia: Entry into Cambodia has always been more unpredictable, but still about roughly 50% have successfully entered since early 2022. The times that have been refusals, the reasons have ranged from requiring excessive/unrelated documents, simply saying that it is illegal to enter, or just whatever reason comes to mind while holding out an open hand to be filled. Some customers have been refused by one border crossing to sometimes find success at the next.

Poi Pet has currently been the most difficult border crossing, and Laos into Cambodia has been overall easier if Thailand to Cambodia directly doesn’t work.

A Permission of Temporary Exportation has never been required in the past, and to our knowledge has never been used for any crossings that have been successful. That said, if you would like to register for one with Cambodia, please just let us know and we can provide the details of which bike you will have for the rental period.

Malaysia: As of the time of this writing, Malaysia has held a 100% success rate for border entries. We are not aware of any customers who have been denied entry as of yet.
